We live in the technology age so it is imparitive to include technology in the lives of children. I learned a number of things by completing this assignment. The most important thing I learned was that as a teacher you need to have a number of ways to reaching out to the parents of the children. This assignment taught me that you can reach the parents a number of diffrent ways for example, newsletters, brochures, letters, flyer etc. In addition to that these ways to reach the parents will serve as a bridge between the parents and the teacher to ensure that the child is doing what is expected of them. Another thing that I learned from this assignment is that there is specific programs that can help teachers create things that will help them be able to better communicate with there student's parents. This programs as well as the internet have templates so that it is easy for the teacher to add whatever they want to these formats of communication. In addition to that these templates save some time for the teacher because teachers no longer have to create these things from scratch. As a future educator I am sure that I will use these ways of communicating to help me.
There are a number of ways I plan to use the newsletters, brochures, flyers, etc in my classroom. I can use the newletters to reach the parents on a monthly bases. The newletter would include things like when are class library, when major assignments are due as well as what is for lunch daily. This would allow parents to have a chronologcial listing so it is no suprises about what is going on in there child's classroom. Another way I can use the communication devices is to send home flyers with the children that show the important family events that will be happening school wide. The good thing about these posters they will be bright in color and short to read so therefore it will be easy for the parents to read it because some parents will not read something that has a lot of text on it. Overall this assignment has got my juices flowing so when I become a teacher I will be adequately prepared and I will be able to send messages to parents a number of ways.
